We’re not big casino fans, but we do love Vegas. We’ve been vacationing in Vegas since we got married. Our trips always included watching at least one show, an attraction and a whole lot of shopping. Not much have changed since we had kids, except we make sure that the attractions we now visit are appropriate for our children.
Our son barely turned 1 when we first took him with us in Vegas in 2006. We took him to M&M’s, Coke World and Madame Tussaud’s. For DH and I’s night out, we watched “Ka” by Cirque de Soliel.
Last year, we took DS to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and the Lied’s Discovery Science Museum. He was already a curious toddler at that time. He had so much fun! For DH and I’s night out, we watched “The Blue Man Group,” which I totally love!
I’m starting to plan out our itinerary for this year’s trip. We’ll be going to the Adventuredome since DS is now tall enough to ride the attractions for kids. I also want us to go to Scandia. I haven’t been on a bumper boat in years. We’ll be taking turns riding with our DS and watching our DD. I’m so excited! For DH and I’s night out, we want to watch “Stomp out Loud!” I can’t wait! woo-hoo!
Without spending our money in the casinos, we’ve always had a great time as a family. DH and I’s night out have been made possible by a friend who wouldn’t mind watching our kids for a couple of hours.
Tips on having a GREAT family time in Vegas (or anywhere else):
1. Do a research of things to do around your hotel or resort. Look for theme parks, attractions, family restaurants, etc.
2. Contact friends and loved ones that may live around the area to meet your family for some catching up.
3. Always have an alternate option to watch your kids in case of an emergency. If you don’t have a friend or relative in that area, do a search of licensed care providers around your hotel.
4. Look for bargains. Many shops in Vegas offer 1/2 off tickets for shows that same day.
5. Bring a GPS. Nothing can spoil a great vacation than being lost.
good post!
When the Blue Man Group came here we saw them in concert. It was so much fun. We sat in the front. Well worth the money.

Awesome! We have taken our kids to Vegas once and they LOVED it. They can’t wait to go back. My biggest problem is avoiding the smoke. I hate to have them breathe that. It is a very fun place for families.
