Naptime…

Adults want them, but can’t because we have to work or life is just too darn busy.

Kids on the other hand get offered naps all the time, but refuse to take them.

For the life of them, do they really think that they’ll be missing out on some amazing event as soon as they close their eyes…. I have yet to understand the complexities of a child’s mind.

As time goes by, realizing how hectic life is, the more we realize children need naps. We’ve learned that our children get grumpy, unreasonable, hard headed and stubborn when they’re sleepy. And that’s not just an excuse!

When they get tired, they need to nap or else they’ll keep having these outbursts… that then leads to tantrums! And we don’t want that!

So I’d rather them fight me to take a nap, but eventually take them rather than them continually breaking down and driving me nuts whole time, right!

Then again, I can always ask for reinforcements (i mean the hubby) to watch the kids while I NAP in the bedroom! Hahah!

I was so excited to make Chocolate dipped pretzels for DS’s class. They’re not only very cute but also very yummy!

For the first batch, I tried to drizzle with peach colored chocolate wafers.

They turned out so pretty!

I decorated my second batch with sprinkles….I love it!

And here are the goody bags I made, I put a rubber ball and some playing cards inside.

Aaron went on his very first school field trip last Wednesday. I wasn’t able to go since I had to go to work, but DH was able to go with them and take awesome pictures!

They went to Lombardi Ranch in the Santa Clarita Valley. It’s a ranch with a Pumpkin Patch, a Corn Maze, Tractors, a Petting Zoo, a Train Ride and Scare Crows.

I don’t know what part of the world you’re at, but where I’m at, the winds were crazy 2 days ago and it’s starting to get chilly around here.

My allergies have been acting crazy, plus a migraine that just won’t go away. Hubby says its most likely the winds and air pressure. I agree.

At 6 o’clock last night, i took benadryl while I was at work for one more hour. I started getting sleepy 30 minutes later. At 7pm, it was finally time to go home, but realized we had to do some last minute shopping for DS’s harvest celebration at school. So we went to Target, even though I was pretty much sleepwalking.

When we got home, I finished the chocolate dipped pretzels for DS’s school and then I passed out with Elle in the bedroom. According the DH that was around 10pm and I didn’t wake up till 7:30 this morning. Thank goodness! I really didn’t get much done last night but I really needed to catch up with my sleep.

Today after work, we picked up some dinner. Hubby napped to get ready for work. Then I got to pick up around the living room, wash some dishes, help DS to finish his homework, feed the kids, eat, package the pretzels, bag the goody bags for tomorrow, bathe the kids, do one load of laundry, prep DS’s costume, fix DD’s wing for her costume and now I have one kid out and waiting for kid #2 to fall asleep as well.

My goodness….I’m exhausted! But I know there’s so much more I need to do. The last three weeks of busyness at church just made our house chores pile up…. We need a whole month to recover. Boo!

And now DS just told me he wants a mask instead of makeup….I think I need to put on a Super Mom costume so I don’t fall asleep….

I like finding out all the neat stuff my computer can do, including this awesome Photo Booth =)

Once in a while, we ask Aaron if he’d like a younger brother, since he already has a younger sister. (Of course we’re not having one anytime soon, maybe in two years) He keeps saying no, so we tease him sometimes and he knows its a running joke around the house.

The other day, on the way to dropping him off to school…

Me: Aaron, you can be a Lion, ok?
Aaron: OK, and baby Elle can be a bunny.
Me: What about Mommy?
Aaron: Mommy, you’re a giraffe, Daddy’s an alligator!
Me: Can your little brother be a monkey?
Aaron: No, I don’t want any MONKEYS in the MIX!

Hubby and I just looked at each other and said, “WhuuuT? Where did you hear that from?” And the reply we got… “I made it up all by myself!”

Ha, Monkeys in the MIX alright! Silly Boy!

These last 2 weeks has been so hectic. I’m counting down the days for this weekend to be completely over.

Hubby and I have been working hard to help out with our church’s 25th anniversary for this coming weekend. Our jobs so far included, design of the fliers and poster, design and printing of the banners, design and printing of the shirts, layout, design and printing of the souvenir programs.

The hubby also had to find a contact for the sound guy, find a stage, pick up the lights and draw the floor plan. He has to start setting up tomorrow afternoon as soon as the stage arrives and has to show up 3 hours before the beginning of the event to set up. And he still has to play with the Praise Team during the event and clean up afterwards.

I love this man. I fall more and more in love with him, more each day! He is the nicest and most generous person I know, considering he still works his 2 jobs and takes care of me and the kiddies. He volunteers every available moment to people in need, even if it costs him his sleep.

On Saturday, while he’s working the stage and doing praise and worship, I’ll be taking care of the KidZone. We’ll have arts and crafts for the kids, moon bounces, treats, games, etc. I’m excited that it’s gonna so fun, but at the same time that it’s gonna be finally OVER!!!!!!! woohoo!

This was so much work, I pray and hope it’s a successful event, it’s for a good cause… so come drop by if you’re in town. Admission is free! We’ll have Hula dancers, food booths, praise bands and lots of fun! We appreciate all the support!

Yup, yup, I’ve been using the crockpot and I love it!

This is the latest dish I made with the Crockpot, Creamy Ground Beef, it’s very easy.

Ingredients:
3 medium size potatoes (cut into thick chunks)
1 medium onion (cubed)
1 lb ground beef
1 cup frozen corn
1 can cream of corn
1 can cream of mushroom
1 beef buillion
salt
pepper
1 tbsp cooking oil

Directions:
1. Saute half of the chopped onions in the oil.
2. Add the ground beef, brown and season with salt, pepper and the buillion.
3. Drain ground beef and set aside.
4. Layer the potatoes, groundbeef, rest of the onions, corn, cream of corn and cream of mushroom in the crockpot.
5. Cover and set in low for 6-7 hours.

On our drive today going to Aaron’s school, we were playing our regular word guessing game.

Me: Aaron, what transportation can u ride in the water?
Aaron: what?
Me: A Boat.
Aaron: What’s Transportation?
Me: It’s something like a car that you ride. ok? Now it’s your turn.
Aaron: What transportation is on a tree?
Me: Huh? what?
Aaron: A swing
Me: That’s not transportation
Aaron: Well, you can ride on it
Me: No, when you ride a transportation, it takes you one place to another
Aaron: But it takes you up and down!
Me: Hahah!

That’s my smart little 4 year old! Such a character!

We had quite a week so we slept in and made yesterday a chore day. Three loads of laundry, folding and putting them away took most of my day.

It already started to get dark, but we remembered that we needed to replenish our food supply and DS’ snacks for school. We agreed for me go do the run to the store since I haven’t been out of the house the entire day.

At the store, I took my time to check my list and even pick up a few things we needed that wasn’t on the list. As I reached the counter, I realized that I didn’t have my ATM card. Oh MY!

I’m a woman of ATM card. I normally only carry my ATM card, sometimes a credit card if I know I’ll use it, and I barely started taking my check book with me. But this time, I had nothing of the three in my purse.

I had the checker go ahead and sum up my total and told her I’ll be back in 15 mins. I figured, the hubby and kids can come by and bring me my ATM. So I called home and tell them what happened. I went back to my car and see if there is anything at all I missed, that maybe, some credit card accidentally made it to my purse.

I searched my entire purse for a card, but I didn’t have any luck. I did however started seeing bills and gathered them. My final count was $52 in loose bills. Wow! I never carry that much cash with me, but I did.

So I ran back in the store and asked what was my total and found out it was $52.39. Good thing I had change. But what were the chances of me finding exactly that much in bills in my purse? Almost none. Such a miracle! I thank God really! I called home right away and told them that they didn’t have to drive back all the way to the store anymore. Whew!
